Hearts Bluff Purchases the Jerome Richardson Catalog! Share Thisi

Most people who know of Jerome Richardson, know him as a saxophonist and flutist who was one of the most recorded musicians in the history of jazz. By the end of his career, he had appeared on over 4,000 recordings with artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan and Miles Davis. What most people don’t know is that he was an amazing songwriter who composed a lot of jazz standards, such as his late-’60s hit, “Groove Merchant.”

In 1965 he was a founding member of the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra, and wrote several songs, including “Groove Merchant,” which would put the band on the map. Many of Richardson’s songs are still covered around the world today, and we at Hearts Bluff are excited to honor his legacy!
