Hearts Bluff Acquires the Patrice Holloway Catalog Share Thisi
You’ve heard Patrice Holloway’s voice before, but you probably never knew it. If you were ever a fan of Josie and the Pussycats, you’ve definitely heard Patrice. She sang the lead vocal in the theme song! Or how about Joe Cocker’s version of “With a Little Help From My Friends”? That’s Patrice again, included in the famously soulful background vocals. In the ’60s and ’70s she sang in the studio for countless Motown artists, showcasing her sought-after smooth but powerful background vocals.
Patrice had a brief stint in songwriting, where she mostly co-wrote with her sister, another talented Motown artist, Brenda Holloway. Hearts Bluff is proud to keep the Holloway legacy alive as we’ve acquired interest in Patrice’s hits like “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy!”
Originally recorded by Patrice’s sister Brenda, “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” became a hit when it was cut by Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Released in 1969, the song went on to reach #2 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and was certified Gold by the RIAA. We’re delighted to add Holloway’s catalogue to our roster!
